Free speech in America is dying. It seems everyone has an opinion about something nowadays and want to make sure their voice is heard. And if you oppose those opinions, then you’re labeled with names like racist, bigot, homophobic or even worse.
If you don’t know what “political correctness” means let me give you some examples:
-You can’t say Merry Christmas or display nativity scenes without offending someone.
-There’s no “God or Religion” in schools or you may offend someone.
-Fake Santa’s can’t say, “ho, ho, ho” because it offends women.
-You can’t say “Islamic Terrorist” or “Islamic Terrorism” because it offends our government.
And well, you get the picture. Of course this should come as no surprise. America has been fundamentally changing for many years. One person becomes offended and the masses want to rewrite history so someone can feel better about themselves.
The Gadsden Flag
The Gadsden flag, otherwise known as the “Don’t Tread On Me” flag, originated in the Revolutionary War. The flag and its slogan have been used to express various non-racial sentiments, such as when it is used in the modern Tea Party political movement, guns rights activism, patriotic displays and by the military.
Brief history of Gadsden flag and more.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is looking into whether wearing a depiction of the Gadsden flag to work should be considered racial harassment after a black employee at a privately owned business filed a complaint with the federal agency more than two years ago.
The complaint was filed in January 2014 after a coworker wore a hat that had a coiled snake with the words “don’t tread on me” repeatedly back in 2013. There was no racist remarks, according to the filed complaint.
The complainant said that he made his concern known to his bosses, who then asked the employee to stop wearing the hat. The worker in question kept wearing the hat, however, resulting in the offended employee filing a formal complaint with the EEOC.
Somehow, America has slowly become a nation of pansies, where even something as the American flag or God becomes offensive to people. If you’re truly offended, stay away from it but don’t impose your opinions on others.
What do you think? Is “political correctness” destroying our freedom of speech? You decide.
