(ModernSurvival.org) – Anyone who has battled cancer, or knows someone who has, can tell you how horrific the treatments are. They leave a person drained, sick, and weak. While most people would be understanding of the limitations one would suffer while fighting for their life against this disease, a Judge in Michigan was recently unmoved by a defendant’s condition.
Michigan judge berates cancer patient over blighted lawn, 'If I could give you jail time on this, I would’

Seventy-two-year-old Burhan Chowdhury was diagnosed with lymph node cancer in 2019. Due to the adverse effects of the cancer treatments, Chowdhury is unable to take care of some basic necessities, such as keeping up his yard. As such, it became overgrown and unruly, leading to a fine in August of 2021.
During a hearing over the fine, Judge Alexis Krot unleashed on the cancer patient, saying he should be “ashamed of himself” and that she would imprison him if she could. She also fined Chowdhury $100 over the state of his yard. So much for compassion and understanding.
In light of the judge’s treatment of Chowdhury, a petition has risen demanding her removal. According to Newsweek, nearly 170,000 people have already signed it.
While Chowdhury’s family has since cleaned up the lot, the rage Krot has inspired isn’t going anywhere.
What do you think? Should Krot be removed from her position as a judge for a lack of empathy and for berating a cancer patient? Or do you believe Chowdhury was in the wrong and deserves the punishment? Reply to your email and let us know, we would love to hear your thoughts!
